Behavioral Health System of Crisis Care

To effectively meet the needs of clients in crisis, a behavioral health system of crisis care must be able to respond to any individual in any setting at any time. Fragmented or inadequate systems of care typically shuffle clients through a constantly revolving door and provide ineffective or inappropriate referrals or restrictive placements. Such strategies fail to meet the needs of clients by ensuring that they encounter “a no wrong door” approach when experiencing a crisis.

This course will provide an overview of what a comprehensive and integrated system of behavioral crisis care involves. You will learn about the primary elements of such systems and how to implement best practices to coordinate the components of comprehensive crisis care to best meet the needs of the individuals you serve.

The goal of this course is to help addictions, behavioral health counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, and social work professionals gain knowledge about the behavioral health system of crisis care.
